Compassionate Dental Care! Always on the MOVE!

Why Mobile?

Karen created Roving Dental Hygiene to provide professional preventive dental hygiene care directly within long-term care homes, retirement homes, and group home settings for residents who are unable or have difficulty attending a traditional dental office.

Karen proudly provides compassionate, individualized care for:
  • Residents living in long-term care and retirement homes
  • Adults with physical, cognitive, or medical challenges, including dementia and Alzheimer’s disease
  • Individuals who are unable to comfortably tolerate a traditional dental office environment due to anxiety, emotional or mental health challenges, sensory sensitivities, past traumatic experiences, or other barriers to receiving care in a clinical setting

Care can often be provided bedside, in a wheelchair, or in a reclining chair within the comfort and familiarity of the resident’s living environment.

Karen developed Roving Dental Hygiene to improve access to oral healthcare for vulnerable populations who may otherwise go without regular dental hygiene services. Her goal is to provide accessible, compassionate, and professional oral healthcare while supporting dignity, comfort, and overall health for residents in care settings.

Dental Hygiene Care for those with Disabilities

  • Individuals with physical disabilities may have problems getting into the dental chair.
  • Learning disabilities may become overanxious at the thought of going to the dental office or may need extra reassurance.
  • People suffering from severe medical problems may need extra precautions or care.
  • We are able to take account of all these issues when providing dental care in the home, group home or facility.

Good Oral Health is Important at Every Stage of Life

  • The need for good oral health continues as a person ages, becomes chronically ill or moves to a long-term care residence.
  • Many older adults, especially those who rely on others for care, have poor oral hygiene and high rates of oral disease.
  • Oral diseases can cause pain, discomfort, difficulties chewing and swallowing, and are also associated with heart and lung diseases, diabetes, and stroke.
  • Professional dental hygiene services, coupled with good daily oral hygiene habits, can reduce the risk of these health complications.
